I was introduced to Pilates in 2011 while searching for a fitness routine with structure. I was bored of going to the gym and aimlessly running on the elliptical machine. As a former gymnast, I was immediately sold on Pilates because of its inherent combination of strength training, flexibility and balance control. As a former project manager, I was attracted to the clean, orderly system and focus on precise, isolated movements. It’s a system that freed me from lower back pain, helped me recover from a broken foot, provided stress relief, and improved my golf swing.
In 2017, I left a career in advertising to pursue my certification through Classical Pilates USA™, a teacher certification program based entirely on the original work of Joseph Pilates and Romana Kryzonwaska. There, I was trained under Brett Howard, Director of Education and second generation teacher of Joseph Pilates.
I'm fascinated by the patterns in the human body and how the everyday wear and tear of work, stress, and daily living can be impactful. I love observing my clients benefit from the immediate positive effects of a challenging workout, and how the system of Pilates creates physical and mental change beyond the studio door.
I named my studio "Flex" because Pilates transforms your physical body as well as reshapes your mind. Everybody has an impression of themselves which can be a deterrent to making positive change. I like to believe with the right guidance and focus, anyone can achieve their goals, think a little differently about their own body, and perhaps flex their muscles from time to time in celebration of that achievement. That's what I love the most about Pilates, and why I love to teach it.
I hold a B.S. in Marketing from Fordham University (go Rams) and currently reside in South Orange, NJ with my husband. My golf game will forever continue to be a work in progress. ;)
